Awaiting call on diff' repair....

My FL is in having the bearings in the diff' done, I was expecting a Fiesta or similar car as a courtesy jobbie but they handed me the keys to a new (700 miles old) XS.

What a lovely motor it is, very nicely equiped but apart from that the engine is a gem now, very quiet and really strong through the gears, (still bogs down a little in second from a rolling start though) I can't believe it is essentially the same engine as in my '07 GS. Have they improved the sound proofing too? it's so refined in comparison. In sat here now biting my nails as i'm looking at £400 if the bearing replacement goes to plan or £1100 if the diff' needs complete replacement, needless to say i'm hoping it goes to plan...

Anyway, worries aside the new FL2 is a bit good, i've really enjoyed it Thumbs Up

wizking, thanks for your concern mate, all done now and cost overall was £457 inc. (parts are inexpensive but it is labour intensive) Very pleased to get the car back and the dealer (TH White, Swindon) were incredibly helpful and understanding. Without their help and efforts the car would still be sat on my drive awaiting a complete diff' from the other dealer, who I might add has yet to come back to me to confirm when they could do the job, a stronger candidate for bunch of complete incompetent tossers you will not find....anywhere!

Fantastic news mate, and far better than the £1100 quoted for the diff itself.

I'll second that. Good news.
I'm in Bristol, so I'm also glad of the mention of TH White. They sound like they have been helpful.

Rec' them 100% Alan, they were truly excellent, the car is driving perfectly again now and looked like a new pin on collection too.

MJ Fews, they were all happiness and light to start with and stated they'd support my claim......it went down hill from there and my parting words with the service manager, after being told by him that 'you'll just have to wait for a recon' diff' was 'let me know as soon as you can get one for me....please'

I have recieved no call from them since, and as far as i'm concerned they still have my request to get a diff' in for me, looking back it appears they didn't want to communicate since talking to their lovely manager who declared I had no chance of a 'loyalty payment' even though the claim quite obviously related to a warranty issue due to them being asked on two seperate occasions to investigate a rear noise which they failed to detect while in warranty. Heard it plain as day once the warranty was out though. Of the two MJ Fews are underhanded, dishonest and patently unreliable, TH White on the other hand have been utterly faultless and restored some confidence in the brand Thumbs Up
