Also had a play on a wide expanse of uncleared tarmac turning DSC on and off in various settings and had some interesting moments with it off which shows just how good it is when it's on and working.

I agree about stopping and turning particulary downhill.
I take the view that because of the weight, once it begins to slide it'll be worse than a normal car.
So i'm really careful and use the 'box' to slow down. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Try looking about 5 or 10 miles South of the A14 in Bedfordshire and you'll find some.

Exactly. That was the point of my questions to Mini-eggs. When is he allowing HDC to take control?

plenty of snow falling in birmingham!!

Heres a pic of my car that i took half hour after parking it at work, there wasnt any snow on it when i arrived, just the icicles on the bumper!

That was absolutely no problem at all. Drove out as if the snow wasn't there.

Did that nearly two years ago - had a good session because having already got the Freelander we didn't need to spend time on the on road demo so spent more of the afternoon off road. Though I wouldn't describe it as getting a feel for the toys - toys are what other cars have - we were learning more about the unique features that make the Freelander the car of choice

But, although I used the HDC then (with that slightly surreal feeling of feet off and leave it to the machine), in more than two years I've not encountered a situation when I saw the need of HDC on road or (in my limited) off-roading. That's why I was interested to hear what conditions you encountered to make you decide to allow HDC to take control.
