United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Orkney Grey

Just got the call to bring my 57 plate auto FL2 in for recall. I hope this helps the MPG as only 27 on short runs in the winter (was 32 in summer). Still much better to drive than my MX5 in current weather. My sloping Cul-de-sac was nearly clear of snow/ice today, but now got another load on top.

Today I've went to the dealer and talked with the boys there.
I've found out what it's all about this version 2 of Q106.

The action was extended to include all the vehicles, from 2007 until 2010, VIN from around 019000 to 200000.
In other words, more than 90% of the automatic vehicles.

So you, automatic guys, be prepared to all do the Q106. Laughing

I just downloaded the updated Service Action Q106 v2.

I contacted my Italian dealer today but they have not been officially instructed by LR yet.
My warranty is expiring in January but the service recall should be indipendent.

When I called to book mine in, the dealer said they do not call people as it is not an issue. So why did they then book me without asking any questions? something tells me they are trying to avoid a rush of FL2 owners booking in...

From what I've read and put very simply, when shifting up the engine rpm tends to "flare up" or increase, before dropping into the higher gear.

If that ain't right I stand to be corrected. Confused

Auto Gearbox Recall

Just had my 08 Freelander 2 gs recalled for auto gearbox. Can anybody tell me what this recall is for and what does the dealer have to do. Only took about 30mins to complete.

I had previously complained about a noise when the gears were changing up from 2nd to 3rd , this seems now to have been cured (I Hope).

Has anybody else had the recall? Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto with Winter Pack, Stornaway Grey, Ebony, Grey Mirror Caps. Removable towbar with 13 pin Electrics

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Santorini Black

We had the update done at the end of November, now it does not seam to change up when it should, for instance if I am cruising along a flat road below 60mph it wont change into top it will just stop in 5th. If I am driving at 30mph it sits in3rd.
All the time we had it before the upgrade it drove great, now it always seams to be in too low a gear.
If I switch to manual shift and knock it up a gear it pulls the gear fine but when I switch back to Auto it changes back down.
Is this right or should I take it back to the dealers.

It's right.
They improved the points of gear changes over the RPM range in that way that the engine is kept around the max torque RPM. Also good for the turbo lifespan.
A labouring engine isn't necessarly an economically one.
For the same speed AND load, in many cases the consumption is quite the same in two adiacent gears. Therefore, the lower one (the one with higher revs) is better.

I am having my 57 plate HSE to the dealers on the 4th to have the software update. They told me they need the car pretty much the whole day. How come it only took you 30 minutes?

Took ours back to the dealer, they reloaded the software update for the second time and its fine now, where after the first update if I was driving at a steady 50mph it doing 2200rpm now its running at 1600rpm and changes up fine.
The car now drives as before the update and the same as the courtesy Freelander Auto they gave us for the day.

It does not take very long to do the update but they had ours for the day to try and fix the sunroof blind at the same time.

I just had mine done today. Noticeable difference, although the car has only done ~100 miles after the update.
