hi hill descent works in 1st gear and reverse and also 2nd gear up to a certain speed, you can also slow the car down on the + and - button for the cruise control (don't touch the brake peddal just let the car do it ). I agree no issues changing from one mode to another. Enjoy the snow.

the worst that it will do is say on the little screen "HDC not available in this gear" or speed to high for selected program"

you WILL feel differences too, ie the throttle response will get more/ less sensitive depending on setting chosen

recommend reading the manual, then going out and playing with it,,

You don't need it!!!!!!

Hey

Some of us havent even got terrain response control - And as they said on the experience you don't need it if you can drive! Its like having an experienced landrover instructer sitting next to you for dummies Rolling with laughter

Hill desent is a whole different ball game - works well on a 1 in 5 desent Thumbs Up telfire

One thing to keep in mind if you are out in this snow we have just now.
Although snow mode is good in most conditions it does blunt the preformance and the car can bog down.
Swap to sand more if you need to get through some drifts and the like.
Was out at the Landrover Experience last week and it was there the instructor told us to use it. Might get you out Thumbs Up

It will but it is only using the brakes to slow you, much safer in first where it uses engine braking and the brakes The missus - SD4 HSE - Black - 2012

Doesn't seem to in my manual?!

I was on a recent LRE day and it works in neutral on an automatic, but on my manual, putting it in neutral gives the 'HDC not available in this gear' message.

WHAT
A Skoda Yeti - seeing one of those out in the snow is as rare as seeing the real thing. (When that car was launch the local Skoda dealer was selling them as fast hot-x-buns at Easter. I find it strange that now winter is here I don't see many out and about.)

Switching off the DSC might also help in that situation.
