I find it's not the caravanner but the the person in front of them that are driving too slow, having been stuck every day to and from town the last three weeks behind little cars doing 35 (or less) whatever the weather or speed limit ........

I've highlighted the main offenders for slowing traffic down, (how many if not all of these does CG have on his farm) Every time I drive that road, i find there is a lack of passing places though, even when towing, you get a slow grandad with his vintage car plodding along way below the speed limit and not a care in the world The area just after the round about also gets gridlocked due to the 2 lanes into one senario, and traffic trying to turn right across the on coming traffic Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

nothing wrong with caravans, only the idiots that feel as if they need to pass them no matter what.

That's because your towing with that is on top job. Why is it when you are towing you get caught by someone who cannot keep a constant speed, who varies between 35mph and 50mph, someone else behind them who whatever speed the first car goes, the second car will not overtake but will be so tight up it's that she cannot see passed the first car, then little Miss Daisy who is happy to join in leaving no space between her and the one in front leaving you having to join them because you need a fair size gap in the oncoming traffic to get your 12 metres pass all three at the same time. |

forgot to mention - our now ex-vaner friend just bought a Rav4 to tow it with. he told me he had ordered an 'attach land-rovers' here sticker for the tow bar At work

I'm a 'vanner' and don't agree 'vanners' are better drivers, I've seen some woefully inadequate ones out on the roads. As for me, well I must admit to being the best driver of all time be it solo or towing. Very rarely these days can you travel at single carriageway speed limits and that is simply due to congestion by the number of vehicles, not by the type of vehicle, unless its a vehicle incapable of more than 30mph, then you get the knock on effect for miles and it never recovers.

Don't forget, vanners are limited to 50 on single carriageway roads as are a lot of HGVs, the tailbacks then are caused by legislation |

I disagree, in the summer it's very hard to find an "A" that ends in a coastal town with enough space to even hit the legal limit, it's down to vehicle numbers and not vehicle type or vehicle legislation, unless as I said it's a vehicle incapable of more than 30mph.

Good point on the people who don't keep a steady speed and slow down excessively as the slightest bend/curve in the road. I also beleive it's down to too many ditherers, either not being assertive enough at give way junctions/roundabouts etc. and people not being ready to move on as SOON as the traffic signal turns to green then it takes them a mile to get up to 30mph. |

how many times have you played leap frog, towing or not, with a often overloaded ford fiesta sized car that when overtaken at your steady speed, only for them to over take you shortly after and then slow down again Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |
