My FL2 has Druggy windows and in the halfway stage where it is not dark enough for the exterior lights to work properly, I find it very annoying when the interior mirror goes into blackout mode. All I can see are illuminated discs behind me. As a member of the IAM this action creates a situation where I do not have the full visibility required for safety.
Is there a simple way of turning off this feature?
I am thinking of installing a secondary mirror over the top of the original. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.

Mine works perfectly and one of the best features to have on any vehicle  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

"Quite Dark" is an understatement in my case, I also have specs that turn dark Grey/Black in any available light, so if I get in the car while the lens's are still tinted (takes a good few mins for them to clear)and the dimmer comes into play along with the tinted glas I cant see a Bl**dy thing.

No problem with my dimming mirror, but a bit OTT with the fitted privacy glass. However, my old Vectra had this as standard, with the driver's side wing mirror also dimming - now wouldn't you expect LR to have done that also! The Vectra also had a really good DAB radio as standard (only ever lost the signal in the backwaters of Dorset, great over the rest of UK) but don't get me started on that! Agree that tape is the cheapest fix.

Still got to find the Lens in the daylight but I'm already having problems with the view depth, so putting tape accross is going to reduce it even further. Perhaps it just needs a circle the size of the lens to be stuck over.

try covering it with your finger when driving and you "should" see things clearer

Fairly certain my door mirror doesn't dim but maybe I have a defect! Anyhow, anybody who has driven in Mexico (plus quite a few other countries) won't bother about this as they have no interest in what the following traffic is up to and remove their mirrors to decrease wind resistance!!!

Thanks for the tip npinks, used just enough black Insulation tape to cover and now can see the road behind being lit up by headlights, nice to have full vision again. Tried the Sun Glasses holder and broke the darn thing with being too heavy handed. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables.
