Should be yes, but your're not gonna get great service if you don't spend any money with them and only go to them for the warranty work-Nature of the beast!! |

I would agree, especially as Landrover dealers seem to be very petty in this area for some reason. Iain |

Had my first and 3rd service done by my local Land Rover Dealer and the 2nd by a Land Rover specialist. Dealer made no mention of my having not gone to them for the 2nd Service and I had no problems with them over warranty work. |

I have had the intention right from the start NOT to have my FL2 serviced at the main dealer for more than one reason. Firstly I can't for the life of me work out where they dream up the service price from given it is only 2.1 hours.

I can confirm LR are very petty in this area indeed, they've no legal right to be so but talking from experience I can assure you they are. It depends on where you go....I visited TH White Swindon today and they were very accomodating and really top notch, such a contrast to the drivel I have been fed of late from elsewhere.....still waiting for a delivery schedule for a rear diff' from the other LR main dealer who told me i'd 'just have to wait' even though it was/is genuinely urgent....needless to say I won't be going back. Money aside i'd say in the long run use main dealer in case you have issues down the road....you never know. |

I have a local Bosch service centre int he nearby village of Glenfarg, the reputation of which is excellent and so I will consider using him for my servicing as long as he can assure me of the requirements of the LR warranty. I hope this should not be a problem as he is now selling second-hand LR's and has a good name for servicing 4X4's |

I was assured, catagorically?, that service schedules outside a main dealer franchise legally has no effect on your warranty whatsoever. That was a service manager who told me this..........it does count against you if you have a problem, it shouldn't but it does/will. If you are remotely worried about future issues i'd say get it sorted at LR but they have no legal right to turn you away with warranty issues providing you have recieved services using genuine LR parts at a v.a.t. registered outlet. Some are anal about it, others accept you've done nothing wrong by going elsewhere They are big on loyaly but have no right, legally, to be so. |

The block exemption rules that were introduced meant that you could take your vehicle into anywhere to be serviced provided the parts used were of "equivalent quality" and it would not affect the warranty. Only warranty work though can be carried out by a registered dealer.
