Car has been great last few days in the extreme (for us) snow and ice. Today was in a line of slow traffic when it suddenly lost power and died. On restart I got a reduced engine performance message and it was very much limp home mode. The air temp at the time was -19 - could that be a cause? Filled with Tesco diesel at weekend - usually run on Shell.

Anyone any ideas - would like to avoid garage visit if poss?

This "error" can mean that the DPF needs cleaning. Do not be alarmed. A lot of folks experience this.

a) Check your Owner's Manual for what you can do yourself re a blast down the motorway.
b) Or Limp to your dealer and ask for them to clean out the DPF.
c) And whlist at your LR Dealer ask them to install the latest version of the software update that can assist with this error "Reduced Engine Performance". Latest version was released on the 13:11.2010.

This afternoon our dealer is installing this update on her Ladyship's FL2 TD4-e

Unfortunately I did forget to say I don't have a DPF on the car - at least not that I know of 2007 manual model.

2007 Manual TD4 SE. Had "Reduced Engine Performance" message when starting once during this cold weather spell. Message disappeared when I started moving and had no effect on the actual performance. Put it down to an electronic quirk maybe due to one of the many sensors feeling the cold.
