2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Zermatt Silver
Changing wheel sizes

So I bought a 07 freelander last month. It came with 215/75R16 wheels/tyres. If I wanted to put bigger rims and tyres on is it a straight forward swap? I need something with better handling especially in this weather. Currently have conti contacts on. TA 2007 TD4 S Zermat Silver, maual, panoramic sunroof, rear headrest entertainment system, towbar for trailer.

think so but theres better experts on here :)

I'm no expert but I think it should be OK as if you increase the diameter of the wheel, you'll be decreasing the wall height of the tyre and thus the 'wheel plus tyre' diameter will not alter???

The biggest concern would be with your insurance company though as you'll have non standard wheels = ching ching for the insurance company.

all landrover origonal wheels fitted with recommended tyres have the same(v.similar) rolling circumference, so swapping isnt a problem, but dont expect bigger wheels to improve handling esp in this weather. I'd think the 16's would be the best snow choice of all the standard options At work

In winter the width of the tyre is what determines the handling in the snow. Have a look on snow\ice rally cars.
They are rolling on 145/65-15 with studs! Smile FL2, TD4 HSE

fit

i've just spoken to the dorks at stratstone landrover.

They state that as i have 19'" alloys on my sport LE i can't fit 16" LR ones due to the size of the brake discs?

I would have thought they would all be a standard size as the differences are just cosmetic anyone confirm they'll fit without probs?

I'm sure I've read 16'' will go on but you have to have external (outer rim) balance weights, tried a search but couldn't find it.

I'm glad you said that-I have ugly weights on the outer rim and was going to ask for the other type when I get new tyres Shocked

16's dont fit on the i6 petrol due to brake size, but should fit all the diesels At work
