£15 - £16k will get you a 2007 07 or possibly 57 XS or possibly SE manual. Look on www.pistonheads.com who have over 600 Freelanders for sale at the moment although some are Freelander 1. Also look at Autotrader and Fleabay.

Major changes not imminent, 's' models have no terrain dial, thats no great huge loss really. Probably better to buy in summer. 2 cold winters in a row can only be helping used 4x4 prices at the moment.

Have owned a 07 plate auto GS for three days now. Fantastic. Has low miles, tow bar and roof rails (both of which I'd have to invest in anyway), and the deal was well under £16k. Highly recommended. Stornaway grey as well, looks good and a practical colour in the conditions. |

I have to agree with chicken george, if you are going to get one BLACK is by far the best and they are faster than all the other colours |

I just bought a 07 S model 3 weeks ago. Cost 12k with 60k on clock. It doesn't have the terrain dial, but not had any problems this week. Have enjoyed driving around other cars that have been sliding all over the place trying to get up hills. Especially this am passing a new merc estate that was wheeling spinning half way up a hill. |

Hi Wanderlust, your a good example showing that you don't necessarily need the terrain dial - just a proper car driven sensibly |

I feel sorry for FL2 owners who choose black. So inferior but they will never admit it. Shows scratches easily, needs cleaning after driving it more than 10 yards.
