I think Spikes Spiders are the only recommended snow traction aid for the FL2. Check the LR website as they have them on there (badged as LR probably). Also think they are only recommended for the front wheels.

The snow has got soo deep here in Allerthorpe I have just mounted my Spike Spider (Land rover) snow chains. They take about 20mins to initially mount the holding bracket, but after that it only takes about a minute per wheel (just the front wheels) to put on the actual chains. Took it for a test drive and considering the car is fantastic on its own, with the chains it is just outstanding Great design that doesn't touch the alloy's in any way and can actually give some decent grip on ice. Just be careful as you can stop better than the cars behind, I leave plenty of room between me and the car ahead and so can just move forward if those behind slide towards me. |

The instructions do not give a speed but the web site info gives a maximum of 30mph/46kmph with all spike spiders. |

As the old TV advert used to say "wish I could afford Spike Spiders Malcom" I have been thinking of trying a home made device, just a lenght of Polypropelyne Rope threaded through each wheel cut-out and round the tyre to the next hole, tying on the outside to avoid the Caliper. Offset your Carbon emissions by boycotting Baked Beans and all Green Vegitables. |

Cheers guys, some really good feedback there. As I'm currently a long way from land - yet alone my Freelander, could someone tell me what wheels/tyres I am most likely to have on a bog standard 2008 XS (original factory fit).
