United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Prices ...new and used ...

Just been looking on Autotrader website, supposed to be looking for a small auto for my mother in law. I couldn't resist the temptation to look at FL2's ...

Well, first of all there are plenty of them; what a difference to me buying blind late last year!

There is a car supermarket in Burnley (Lancashire) listing an HSE auto with delivery miles for £28k Shocked Shocked

The same dealer is offering a delivery mileage GS manual for £22k.

The least expensive LR2 is an '07 S at a main dealer for £18.5k.

And there are many S autos to be had from £21.5k upwards ....

Toyota Corolla (four-door, without optional side airbags)
Chevrolet Cobalt (four-door, without optional side airbags)
Ford Focus (four-door, without optional side airbags)
Mazda3 (four-door, without optional side airbags)

I'm looking to buy a LR2 TD4 GS Manual (based on the recent What Car group test), but am a little perplexed by the seemingly large number of LR2s that are currently for sale (Autotrader & LR's own dealer sites).

2 questions:

1. Why are so many for sale at just under 5000miles? (eg TD4 S for £18,494 and GS for £19,949)
2. Anyone got a feel for what depreciation might be like in a couple of years time? - i.e might not reach the forecast high residuals?

Thanks in advance - I have already found the forums very useful.

A couple of points, first, in my humble opinion, I think the GS is 'best value' model. sure it doesn't have all the toys but I think it has a great combination of toys to price ratio.

As for the sub 5000 miles I'd bet that a large proportion of these are dealer registered 'demos'. If I were you I'd really push the dealer for discount on new or get a demo or pre registered car.

Hope you find one soon and join the FL2 brigade, we have great smile per mile ratio !!!!

Surely the most important accident-avoidance feature is a driver who is paying some attention to what is going on.
