Scotland 2010 Freelander 2 TD4_e HSE Manual Santorini Black

We just done the One in Dunkeld on Friday. It was most informative. I might never need to do any of the things the instructor showed us, but knowing the car can do it gives me more cofidence.

The day was the BEST thing a newbie to Freelander owning could have.

Scotland 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Fuji White

I was at Dunkeld (nr Perth) in January, lots of deep snow, hard packed snow and ice. Instructor was brilliant and had FL2 doing what I previously would not have attempted in a Defender.
Some pics in my gallery.
Hope to have a return visit as have ordered a new SD GS. All FL2's (3) Gone

My wife and I did Honiton the other week after a heavy downpour over night, it was great and the FL2 did everything the RR and Disco did and effortlessly too, I never imagined it would handle the wet slippery steep gradients so easily (up and down) with the cruise control adding an extra benefit, so much less hassle than the earlier 4x4 LR's I've had. My wife really enjoyed herself , (I surprised her with - okay you go first Smile ) and she did me proud by not backing out of some really steep drops.

Honiton rocks !

Doin' another one in Jan, Disco 4 this time. Probably a bad move as it will make we want one even more and I can't afford it!

United Kingdom

Just got back from Rockingham Castle and it was great. Very Happy Thumbs Up

I went round in a brand new 60 plate SD4 HSE in silver. We did on and off road driving and here are my thoughts.

On road

Still don't like the new shape as much and although the car is quicker with the higher powered engine, I did not like it. It revved too much and was too jerky. Even the instructor said he and his colleagues thought the lower powered version was better because there is too much power in a car of that size, just not necessary was his view and I agree.

Off road

Unbelieveable. I could not come to terms with what it could handle and this was on normal tyres. The bloke said that when I went up one really slippery hill at the first attempt, it had taken the Disco 4 seven attempts to get up because it weighs so much. Apparently where it loses to discos etc on ground clearance issues, it beats them elsewhere because they are so heavy. I was a good driver too because I listened to him. He told me that far too many people turn up with big egos and just crash Laughing .

Finally he told me how poor the freelanders rivals are in the rough stuff and how one guy destroyed his BMW X5 on the axle twister Rolling with laughter
