Heated front screens are a really difficult one on warranty as they are notorious for failing. I have had four cars now with Heated front screens and three had issues. Never even occured to me to try and get it repaired on warranty...

Another dealer would be my recommendation.

Go ballistic with the dealer pincipal and/or Group MD. I offered the guy 100 quid to a charity of his choice if he could show me a chip, next thing after checking with LR, a new windscreen under warranty. |

If they are saying stone chips that cause windscreen faults mean that you can't claim under warranty then get them to verify this with a contract term (i.e smallprint). They will also need to show evidence that it is the chip that has caused the fault. Always remember your rights under S.14 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

To try and blame it on a stone chip is a bit rich...All cars get nicks in the windscreen in my experience to make a heated screen stop working it has to be a fairly severe chip, something that would be obvious standing beyond the bonnet away from the car. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

A small nick in the glass wouldn't do anything, you would need a full on chip, which would need to be repaired or the screen replaced to break a heating element.

Andrew try another dealer, but a chip as small as you're describing obviously isn't causing problems as it would only stop an area around where the chip is. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Confront them and demand evidence as to the chip causing the problem. They can't just say it and thats the end of it.

Get the chip repaired free of charge on your insurance (most Insurance co.s) before going to the second dealer-so he has no reason to reject your warranty claim-if that fails it's half a brick and £75 excess |
