Mr Pinks - If you had to buy just one wax and one sealer for less than 40 squid, what would you go for? Can't justify spending too much. Have you tried Chemical Guys Jetseal at all? Used Autoglym Ultra Deep Shine polish / wax followed by Extra Gloss Protection at the weekend. Seemed good compared with the Zymol stuff I used to use. Am I best sticking with this?

Polish and wax though I may have dabbled

Beat allround polish by hand would be something like autoglym super resin polish, slightly abrasive but leaves fillers so you get a nice finish

Wax then your open to a few cheaper waxes out there my top three from either personal use or what I have read are
In no particular order
Collinite 476s
Finsh Kare FK1000P
Auto glym HD

There is a newish company called Dodo Juice too which are regional winners of some young company awards who are
Producing some very very good wax to suit all budgets

And of course the Bilt Hamber Hydra wax I used was the easiest liquid wax I have ever used, so it was very quick to used and less labour intensive, I just can't comment on how durable it is yet Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Cheers - Will be buying some of that Carlack stuff before the Winter sets in proper. Also, forgive the ignorance, what's the difference between polish and wax? Should you have both?

Polish has abrasives that you use to give the paint a nice finish by either leaving micro particles behind in the fine swirls(fillers) or they have micro abrasives which will polish out the swirls/scratchs from the paint

I think I will be trying some of the Carlack too. Looks pretty impressive. Rain-ex is good at first but wears off quickly, especially once the dreaded salt hits the roads.

If your fancying the glass sealant also look into nanolex or GTechniq Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Talking about polishes, what's the hardness of the paint like on Freelanders? Is it hard like BMW or softer like Jap stuff? I'd quite like to find out before taking my DA to it

I was told it was intermediate hardness when speaking to Polished Bliss when i was buying my DA

Thanks, I'll try Sonus on it rather than Menzerna then If I need to, at the moment the paint looks pretty good, although I suspect some liberal use of SRP from the dealer!

I used SRP first time round then when I did it proberbly I used Gloss-it One Step Machine Polish on a light cut pad which got very good results on my first Stornoway Grey car, not done my White one yet Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Just home from a trip, Friday night and all, and I thought I'd order some of Mr Pink's Carlack wonder stuff. But, no! He has had the Delia effect (Delia Smith et al), in that saying nice things about the product, results in a sudden rush, and much trampling of feet, it is sold out! Pffft.

Anyway, he's probably sat at home, swivel chair, and stroking the white cat on his lap! Hmmm
