FUEL GUAGE

Has anyone had problems with the fuel guage reading wrong. About a year ago my guage would fall to empty and the warning light come on. It could be fixed by switching ign off and on again but if not done the vehicle would go into fuel saving mode and reduce engine power quite alarmingly. It was fixed?? under warranty by a software update,so I was told, but has recently re-appeared. As the warranty has now expired I am expected to pay for a diagnosis and repair!!
Any thoughts out there?

No, never had it happen. Seems like the sender unit is faulty.

It happened to me yesterday but not exac tly as you experienced. I suspect it had to do with me accidentally starting the vehicle and not letting it finish its system check. When I came out from a haircut, I started the vehicle but the light never went out and the gauge showed almost empty but I knew I had a full tank. I drove away and it started to climb slowly and the light went out. I drove about 2km and by then it had reached half way. I stopped the vehicle went did some shopping and when I came back and started the vehicle, everything was okay. So far today it is okay

has happened to me twice in 35k miles - 16 months.
Just turned off, waited a minute or two, turned back on, started to read OK.
If it isn't currently broke I won't take it to be fixed, because I believe the dealer will just be guessing.

From previous posts others have had more of a problem. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Thats how it started with me, then went downhill. Do you still have warranty?

I have different problem, when I fill up it shows full, as I use fuel it goes down gradually, however the tank is empty on just under a quarter showing on the guage. The trip display showing how many miles left seems fine and the low fuel warning comes on when the trip display shows approx 60 miles left. The dealer thinks it is a faulty sender possiblby sticking in the tank. I am not so sure as the guaage keeps going down all the time.
Hope that all makes sense FL2 HSE Sumatra black with body kit

No mine is a different problem. It is the same everytime. The fuel guage shows full when I fill it up.
As I use fuel over the week it goes down normally, but when it shows just under a quarter on the guage it is empty. The computer is accurate as is the low fuel warning. I know it is almost empty because of how much fuel I can put in.
It doesn't vary or go down suddenly, so it doesn't cause a big problem because I always know how much fuel is in the tank, but it just isn't right FL2 HSE Sumatra black with body kit
