No DRLs on MY11

I thought that daytime running lights were mandatory on all cars from 2011 so was a bit surprised when my GS didn't have them. Not that I'm bothered to be honest as I'm quite capable of turning on lights when appropriate. Andyfr

Many other manufacturers seem to have added them to existing models, was it too expensive for LR to do? (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.

It's not 2011 yet, so, by law, they don't have to fit them. Wait until next year and the road will be like a bloody christmas tree Laughing We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

They don't have to have them on but we will have to drive with lights on very soon, new car or not.

Not sure why LR didn't put them on the Freelander, but Thumbs Up for not doing it I say, they all look crap Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

A dealer said to me they were just going to activate the side lights, just like they have in countries where the have DRLs

Bit of a let down IMO would have been better to have LED like the D4 etc Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Not expensive - It only needs a new relay to be fitted in the fusebox.
All Scandinavian cars have this as standard, so the circuit is already designed and in place on the FL2 Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

Don't think that's the case buddy. Like the old seatbelt law; if they weren't fitted, (pretty obviously), they didn't have to be worn.

Granted, I've not read the effective legislation, however, if someone has a link, I'd appreciate it. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

WDCAPH you are right there, just found it on Google.

All new models from summer 2011 have to have them as standard, with all new cars leaving a showroom having to have them by 2012.

Bad idea though...austria introduced them a few years back then made a u turn when accidents increased...looks like some berk in an office ignored this evidence when deciding for our country. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Not technically DRLs, they're side lights.

One of the D3 forum sponsors is selling LEDs to replace the yellowish incandecent side light bulbs and people are using them as DRLs.

A common misconception... Only the HSE spec D4's have LED's, as opposed to all 2010my RRS have them. To get a D4 with LED's the buyer has to go for an HSE or add Xenon Headlights to a GS or XS.

Either way, the D4 christmas tree lights look really NAF. IMHO. At least Audi lights are a continuous strip. The D4 lights are so spread out in the halo that it looks like some cheap and nasty xmas tree light has been added on. Fail - JMHO Chris
