2009 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Alaska White
TD4 missing under load...

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster Smile Great forum tho!

I've got a 2009 TD4 that started [feeling like it was] 'missing' under load. It started about 250km into a 400km (highway) trip. It was raining (solidly) pretty much the whole way, and we were stuck several times behind large trucks (with the associated clouds of spray) for up to 20kms at a time. I mention this as the car got a serious and extended drenching on the trip and I wonder if this was a causative factor.

Anyway - about 150km from home she started missing when I went to overtake. Cruising (at 104km/hr) was no problem - she didn't miss a beat. But under load it felt like it was missing randomly. About every 3-5 seconds (I wasn't keen to experiment too much as you can appreciate) when i pressed the right foot down.

She got us home alright - and next (tue) day I phoned the local dealer and got her booked in for a look over today(wed). After speaking to the dealer, I took her for a ~60km round trip on highway and street (no rain this time) and she behaved pefectly. Under load and cruising no problem.

The dealership checked her out today but found nothing.

Any ideas??

Ta!

Open the air filter and check to see if its wet, few members have issues with the sensor next to air filter (MAF sensor) getting wet and then engine misbehaving until its dry. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto
