United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

You'll have a hoot, I threw caution to the wind in a quarry on Monday, & rather than wait 20 minutes for my kit to be
carried to the top by a fleet of hired hilux pickups,
i put on Richard Hawley's new album, picked out "mud ruts" on the terrain response
put it in 1st & shot up the 60m slippy hillside, effortlessly.
not gaining nearly as much respect as at the end of our day when i brought 3 passengers & all of my stuff back down without touching the pedals.
( to be fair i'd been " bloodied" at the landrover course at Dunkeld in previous discos)
but this was the first real offroad driving ( apart from forestry/ farm tracks).
& even though ground clearance is limited, "hill descent" lets you stear round the deep holes easily.
And the anti-stall mech' in the manual REALLY works. I'm enjoying this car more & more
especially the 90 mph drive home after the 50 degree ascent/descent ( to get home to dry off/warm up)
Look forward to seeing your pictures, wish i was going too, but have to work to pay for toys.
G

Coped brilliantly well. Couldn't quite follow the D3's everywhere, thats where ground clearance comes into play. Only a problem on deeply rutted tracks. In terms of uphill, downhill performance and axle twisting terrain WOW ... performance on 3 and even 2 wheels most impressive. Got a sniff of burning clutch just a couple of times ... which of course was not an issue for Carl ... thats where the auto really comes into its own ...

Sorry haven't got to uploading pictures to the gallery yet, hope to later on ....

Wait for Carl to post, you know he has a way with words Thumbs Up

Good on you Avtur - I remember my first experience off roading when at the LR experience centre the instructors said that the original Freelander was a very very capable offroader, seems like the FL2 follows the tradition. RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE Zambezi silver, Alpaca, Privicy Glass, Sun roof, PTI, Tasmod's sills, DVD for the offspring, Sex on wheels! RRSPORT.CO.UK sticker on back window! S/C grill & Vents, Front & Rear Lamp Guards, Driving lamps and mud in places you wouldn't believe!
D3 for the wife - No extras! (she has to earn them!)

I like Boobies!!!!

Even more capable than the FL1 give it a 3" lift and move the air intake and it would show the D3 a thing or to i recon Mr. Green

Add a low box too, then it might. The D3 has a weight problem, and to a lesser degree a power problem, but the Fl2 has a long way to go to catch it. But at the end of the day Fl2 will do what 90% will ever want to do. It is a real LR D4 HSE Lux for me
FL2 HSE Zermatt & Alpacca for the wife now gone
Skoda Yeti L&K for the wife.
