I had a knocking noise from the rear a couple of months ago. It turned out to be the rear antil roll bar nuts had come slightly loose. Landrover tightended them up and all was okay. They also ordered a new set of replacement nuts and fitted them as they are nylocks. |

I've checked the obvious like wheel nuts and tyres pressures. Have also tried 'rocking' the car, but I can't get the suspension to deflect even a couple of mm's.

I had the same problem, only seemed to make a noise when going slowly, dissapeared when you got to any sort of speed. Also when cornering sometimes slowly and going over bumps sometimes.

I had a knocking low down front near side. It was a loose antiroll bar link nut. Since being tightened it hasn't come back (yet!) |

I'm thinking "kill or cure" .... Thanks for the other suggestions, hope it does turn out to be something simple like the anti roll bar mounts ... |

Thanks qzx372, This helped a lot. I've been underneath the car this afternoon, that is exactly the problem I've got ... Where then end of the anti roll bar picks up the drop link to the suspension strut the joint has come loose. there is a clear 2mm play in the joint. Have tried to tighten it up myself. found the 15mm nut that needed tightening but another tool, possibly something special is required to stop the shaft turning, so have not been able to fix myself. But feeling much better that I know what the problem is. Have taken some pix of offending joint will post in gallery soon. So Tong here we come ... |

Avtur, you have to use an allen key and a polygon key at the same time. Use the allen key for the inner part of the nut (to stop it from turning) and tighten with the polygon key. Hope this helps... |

First off welcome ![]() Looking at the above posts it seems that it is the anti-roll bar which is loose and simply needs a bit of a tighten. |

Had the same problem with my front suspension knocking over bumps n humps. Took it back to dealer and they cured it; apparently front roll bar linkage nuts work loose due to the threads being painted at factory so when they are torqued up with air gun the nut isn't getting full torque because of the extra friction on thread caused by the paint, leaving joint slightly loose as per Avtur's posting. This is the explanation the head mechanic gave me and sounds pretty feasible. Been no probs after tightening. |

Mine was 3 times at the dealer so far - no results. |
