I'm having real problems on working out the best tyres for my 19" rims.
I currently have Continentals on but these will need replacing very soon.
I'm looking for the best all round tyre Dry, Wet and Snow etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i looked resently and found a good deal at Kwik fit for both Conti's and Pirellis

I kept with the conti's as i was only needing to swap the front two and didn't want to mix brands and the conti's were fine in the snow

I have heared of good reports on Hankooks but couldn't find a suitable size Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I seriously don't beiieve in allround-tyres. A tyre that's supposed to be great in snowy, wet, and dry conditions will have to undergo huge compomises. A tyre for dry tarmac is pretty easy to make, factor in drainage in the wet and the tyre is already compromised. But the Contis are a good compromise.

Now, if the same tyre is supposed to perform in snowy conditions, you can factor out drainage for grip (no, the two don't go very well togheter), the rubber compound will have to be softer, the pattern coarser and the tyres are designed to push snow to the sides, whereas a normal tyre for summer conditions will have a combination of tracks going in the rolling direction as well as diagonally to the sides, so that you don't get a tyrelift and loss of grip (aquaplaning) when water is drained from the tyre during speed.

Braking in the wet and also on try tarmac, is hugely compromised when you drive with allround-tyres fitted. Because of the soft rubber and coarse patterns of tyres that are well suited to snow.

An allround-tyre of any sort, can never be really good at anything. Leopard tank drivers never stop at anything.

Yes I also agree with some points, but most of my customers in the UK want one set of tyres that will do all.

Well worth a look at the new General AT in 235/65x17 when it comes in, best I have seen so far.  Andy.
