FL2 Key Fob... Water Resistance

On the weekend I traced a loud knocking noise in my washing machine back to my FL2 key fob... I inadvertently left them in my jeans...

I'm pleased to report that they are still functioning correctly and seem to be ok.

Has anyone else experienced this or other "fob meets water" activities?

Any idea on depth of water resistance? I'm not about to try, just wondering! Pretty impressed really, just don't want to get stuck out if they decided to pack it in one day.

I managed to drop my keyfob into a fairly deep puddle, deep enough for the fob to be completed under the water.

Picked it up, dried it and it was still working fine Very Happy

I am sure I read somewhere that they are waterproof. Can't remember where though.

Mines been through the washer-no adverse effects, I think they are a sealed unit, I just took the key out and shook the water out of there Thumbs Up

Certain I read something in the manual about it being waterproof. Don't have a FL2 now (loved it so much I got a Disco 4) but it was def in the manual for the 1st year models.

When I went on a LR Experience day last year the first thing the instructor did was throw the fob into a bowl of water to prove it was waterproof !!

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

Mine was in the washing machine for 25 minutes. It lost it's charge I think, as it will not open or close the car on demand. In took a 10 minute drive (the fob operates the car, it just not opens the doors) and when In got back it closed the doors. It now does not open them again. Maybe I need to let it dry a bit longer? Or take a longer trip so it charges better? what do you guys think? I hope I will not have to get a new one...

Depends what mobile. I fell in a lake once off a boat with a brand new Nokia. Took the battery and SIM out, put it under a hand dryer and it was okay. Indus Silver
