United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HST Auto Stornoway Grey

Have to agree about the fog lamps - not sure the new cowl shape adds anything - looks clumsy and a bit more of a b to get properly clean inside?
Also the leather seats appear to have adopted the "x Trail" leather seat look ie folds in the leather along the seams - not sure if this will wear as good as in the earlier versions where the leather seams are flat.
I would imagine much of the performance changes are simply down to ECU remapping - perhaps LR need a prod to relaese the revisions to pre 11MY versions.

We will have to await the new owners on the forum giving their praises or otherwise

Fantastic, BUT I don't see this anywhere near as good as the RRS/D4/RR revamps for the 2010MY. Kinda half hearted. The plasticy D3 interior should have long gone. Is the new leather as good as the D3 2008.5MY 'soft ruffled' leather or are we still talking, leather facings and pleather? For someone who just has to have the latest greatest, I completely underwhelmed........but wish not to be

I thought the 11MY was going to have a revised and better quality interior, it looks exactly the same. I think
the front fog lights and boot trim have only been added as a cheap way of being able to tell the difference between 10 and 11MY. The lower fuel consumption and emissions will make it much more competative, for me the extra performance is nice but what I have is sufficient and more than enough to loose my licence many times over. I do not feel the 11MY is enough of a leap forward to make me feel I have to change.

Looks like they have done away with the pockets at the front of each seat which we have and are very useful Sad

Don't have those front of seat pockets on the "Newport" - but - our seats (f&r) are all leather, and, there's now no black "pleather" gear & hand brake lever surrounds since they've been finally colour coded to the terracotta leather seats. Very Happy

Q for James: is LR still engaging in penny pinching cosmetics in the MY2011 and still have cheap nasty black PLEATHER gear & hand brake lever surrounds Question [/b]

HHmmm. That does look v good. Cant wait to get mine at the end of September, although im in a quandary!
I've stuck with the standard HSE wheels and this looks real good with the option wheels.
Not sure whether to change them or not at this stage as I think I only have a few days before I cant change anything in the build. Rolling Eyes

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Overall appearance looks a vast improvement over to me Very Happy , particular the new front grill that suits the vehicle very well. Still a bit concerned about the new square’ish recessed fog lights, but the original ones maybe would not look right with the new front. Interior detail changes are difficult to see from those photos, except the new leather seats and if they are really full leather then that will be a great improvement.

It will be interesting to see how the Norwegian new car tax will affect the price here. Normally any increase in performance means higher tax, but the better fuel consumption may level that out a bit.

The worse addition for UK drivers will be the (compulsory Question ) DPF. It reduces power, has issues that are not easy to sort out, and potentially a source of irritation for owners. However, let’s hope LR have sorted the DPF issues for the new models and my prediction is wrong Confused .

Overall I think it will kick the Censored out of the new X3 model (and other competition) and if I was buying again soon it would defiantly be a new FL2 Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Don't like the new square fog lights either. NOT even colour coded like the old round covers.

Sounds like a lot - but the SD4 is more expensive in the first place.

Comparing 2011MY SD4 to 2010MY TD4, the price difference is a mere £260. But by my calculations you'd need to cover 13,000 miles before you even break even on diesel costs and that is before you factor in the much bigger discount you may be able to negotiate on a 2010MY car.

The biggest gripe I have with FL2 is the fact that none of information systems integrate on the sat nav - so you've got a huge colour screen in front of you often not getting used and meanwhile you are paging through telephone numbers, radio channels CD tracks and MPG data on tiny green LED displays elsewhere on the dashboard. I assume that is not fixed in 2011MY, I hope it is for FL3. 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

Will try.
I have not taken a photograph since around 1967/8. My dear lady (it's her Newport) and daughter are the in-house photographers so I'll have to get one of them to do a shoot - but don't hold your breath waiting.

This is very true - a complete waste of a screen.
