Manual Gearbox

Dunno whether it's normal or not but i find the gearbox a bit 'notchy'.
The change isn't stiff or difficult but i find a 'clunk' sometimes is a bit disconcerting.
Is this normal for a man box?
Otherwise a really great motor car.

The manual gear lever action is not the smoothest in the car world and certainly not one for "quick shifting". However it does get better with use, and it is worth having the ball pin's torque on the transmission shift lever checked out for correct pressure - should be 20Nm (+/-3Nm), as some have been found to be loose which results in "stiff" gear selections.

Get your LR dealer to refer to SSM 44149 dated 26.04.2010. Had ours checked recently and whilst it's not smooth as silk it is distinctly better now.

I had a similar problem. I took it to an LR dealer, a tech' drove it, came back to the forecourt, called a young 'un out from inside with the garage, he lifted the bonnet and squirt a load of lube over the linkage located to the right of the main engine block............problem solved and the change was much slicker. I periodically re-lube mine.

Not saying this is your problem but it'll take you 30 seconds to try Thumbs Up
