Just brought a set of new snow chain to get ready for the snow season.

I brought the Koing SUV Pro 247 with a minimum of 12mm clearance, I have got 235/55/R19 and it fits perfectly and I try it with the wheels turn full lock to the right and left and drive it, no rubbing at all but very close.

Very happy but quite expensive AUS $390 but $600 cheaper then the O.E. spider spike also it doesn't fit the 19 inches wheels.

Any contact when driving at normal (chained up) speeds as the chain could move with the tyre flexing ? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

No didn't try at normal speed, finger cross. But in the Koing web site this chain is approve for the freelander 2 with 19" so I think they must have done some test to make sure is safe, if not they will have a big liability issue if something happend.

Also with the tyre flexing and the chain moving, I think is more on the bottom of the tyre which is in contact with the road. Not the top of the tyre which is very close to the shockers.

But in Australia most of the time AWD no need to chain up, but need to carry in case is needed and if get caught of not carrying if require, a maximum fine of $2000

Yes I have try in out in the (carpark), I have turn it from lock to lock and drive it, no problems at all, but didn't really try it out because when I go skiing this season chain is not require, so haven't really try it at speed.

But the Koing offical web site say is OK so I assume there will be no problem at speed.

You can get this in Ray's ski shop, they are located along the route to Falls Creek when you are just 1.5 hours away from Falls Creek, so you can pick it up on your way there, or they can post it to you.

Just returned from a trip to Mt Buller. Got to Mansfield to pick up some chains not realising that 19" rims would be an issue but after trying, oh, about a dozen sets of chains and finding nothing to fit we ended up having to catch the bus up.
So much for snow-mode...

So thanks for the tip on the Koing's - how much did you pay?

Sorry to hear, I should have post earlier to you.

Their are many chain that can fit 19" rims but the problem is the clearance between the tyres and the shockers and only the Koing SUV Pro have a clearance of just 12mm which is just thin enough for our FL2.

It cost me $399 plus $20 for the postage, you can save the postage and pick it up on your way to Falls Creek, (Falls Creek is a lot more fun than Mt Buller, but is a long drive 5hrs but is worth it.) Also call them first to make sure they have it in stock because mine need three days to arrrive.
