I see that this thread has been dormant for a while... My second service is almost due and I was wondering if anyone has any updates on prices in the Norwich area? Also, can anyone tell me what is required for the second service - is it just oil and filters?

Seems to be a no brainer - depending on the cost of parts... A nice lady at Hammonds sent me the following breakdown of the service cost - any comment?

Parts;

Disposal charge - £7.95

Filter – Pollen - £13.90

Fuel Filter - £32.40

Wurth Screenwash – 1.85

Air Filter – 15.73

Oil Filter - £8.27

Sump Plug Seal - £1.34

Tescol Brake Cleaner - £3.40

Anti seize grease - £4.34

Tescol Fuel conditioner - £14.95

Tescol Service Lube - £2.40

Castrol Engine Oil Litre £48.84



Parts subtotal; £155.37

Labour subtotal; £236.60 = 2.6 hours x £91.00 (Hourly rate)



Plus VAT

Total = £460.56

I was told that parts came in at under £100. Quite why they are using (and charging!) all those Tescol additives is beyond me! Looks like a bit of bill inflation to me, I'll say it again, if my local LR main agent can do it for £250 and make a profit, anyone can!

Another ref. for second service, from Frank shaikly & son Colchester.

Very pleased with there service and free loan car.

Just paid £395 all in from Guava Guildford for the 2nd service. Top quality company, reasonable prices. Main dealer tried to charge me £495.

Farnells in Leeds quoted me £379.00 ,I then rang Guy Salmon
in Wakefield and they said they would beat it ???

Land Rover main dealer service prices are a joke

any one ever gone in with own parts and just got them to do the service....

genuine LR service kits on ebay are going for around £25 if your lucky + oil at about 30 quid... if you've only got to pay labour - thats a saving! Freelander 2 TD4 Auto, SE, Narvik Black, Alpaca full leather, Rear Headrest Entertainment System, 6 CD, 18 HSE Wheels, Privicy tints

But how much is labour.....I think I recall being told that a second
service on a FL2 was just short of 3 hours and a hours labour
was............£125.00
