United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 GS Auto Orkney Grey
2nd Freelander 2

Just swapped my 2007 (57) XS manual for a 2010my GS auto, PCP due to end in October.
Had looked at 2011my SD4 version v 2010my. However there are no discounts on 2011my to be had and the APR on the finance is 7.9 v 6.9%, the list purchase price is about £1000 more than 2010my before discounts.

Got a GS auto with met paint, towbar, mudflaps, rear spoiler on the road for £26K, was given £14500 trade in on old car @ 54K miles.
Basically 2010my worked out circa £100 per month less than SD4. Thats alot for an extra 30hp!

Done 300miles so far, very happy with auto box returning 32.7mpg on a new (tight) engine only averaged 33 with old one so happy so far.

Build quality seems as good as previous model.

Am just about to swap tyres to Continental AT's - local garage will do a trade in against nearly new existing tyres.

Have also swapped a part of a fish which is the same colour as the sea! you work it out!! Can't say any more. 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

Interesting! So the dealer wouldn't give any discount on a facelift model at all? Have you worked out what the discount you got ended up being compared to list price?

You're right, SD4 might be faster and more economical but £100/month buys a lot of fuel. 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

Car discount was £1540. I then screwed them down on the cost of the extras, originally I opted for a cheaper witter towbar which they would organise to be fitted at a local towbar centre, however they soon decided it was easier to fit an original one at the same price, than run the car to a fitting centre!
My one indulgence was a rear spoiler, makes the rear look so much better - I think, But they still stung me £160 to paint / fit one + the cost of the spoiler!!

Will get some autoglym high deff. wax on it tommorrow, whilst its still clean and I am at home supposidly looking after the kiddies!! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

Excellent.

After a protracted weekend long negotiation session with our local dealer, we ended up getting about £2500 off a 2010MY HSE with options, it was tempting to wait for the facelift and the extra power would have been nice - but not worth the extra £££ and wait.

I notice that the new 148 BHP TD4 HSE is now about £200 cheaper, don't know if spec is the same though. 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

That sounds like a good discount. More competition in South East than the South West. Car prices have always been a bit higher down here. Also a bit more room for movement on an HSE than a GS?

Trade in of £14500 was also not too bad on the old one (57 XS on 54K), although I bet it will be on the forecourt very soon for £17K ish!! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

Yes, lots more movement on an HSE and I imagine the more expensive models would also prove harder to shift with a facelift due. But my god it was hard work, they didn't seem to want to sell us a car at all to start with.

I didn't even ask LR for a part-ex price on the car we are swapping out and I've just sold that privately tonight. Hopefully a relative bargain for the buyer and a better deal for me too.

We used to visit Canworthy Water quite often, a few more quid on a car is a small price to live in that part of the world rather than suffer the drudgery of South London! 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

Could take you on some good offroad adventures near Canworthy Water! I work with farmers all around North and East Cornwall. I have a number of customers around that area, some have fields that need a good 4x4 to get to them - well good tyres anyway!

Had to get some 'deals' from LR dealers in Somerset before I could beat my local dealer around the head to play ball. Originally there was no discount what so ever. I got halfway towards the exit, before they relised I wasn't kidding about taking my custom elsewhere - all good fun!! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone
