Interesting subjective post.
Q: Do you have any objective independent comparative data to share with us to substantiate your claim Question

I think it was more of an individual opinion than a substantive claim Whistle

At the risk of going off topic - indeed i am not very happy. Seeing this post about seat problems just make me think that LR are taking the mickey out of a very brand loyal group of individuals. My FL2 HSE e "stop stop" is now eight weeks old. I am lucky enough to swap my car every two years and always buy new. This is the car i have most looked forward to owning and it's the car i am most looking forward to getting rid of - it'll be gone by September as i've had enough. It was 9 days old when it left my wife and 3 kids (the youngest is 16 weeks old) stranded on the M42 in the evening rush hour. I paid £33,000 for the priviledge of that. Basically, one niggle after another. Dealers are very poor by comparision with the other brands i have had. Believe me, i have had my complaints escalated to a high level and i have had a one 2 one meeting with the dealer principal. Life is too short to spend sorting stuff out like this. I'm returned to a brand that builds a reliable product and where the dealers actually values you as a customer and a person.

Your story sounds like a few others who have recently bought new freelys.
Would I be right in saying that the quality control may of slipped recently as my 07 with 69k miles has no issuses and there is one chap (sorry forgot your name) who traded his trouble free '08 for a 10 reg he has issues with, Also EV has had grief with his MY10. Any owners of newer vehicles wish to comment?

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Biscay Blue

I have read through the earlier posts on this subject and note that they are all quite old. I picked up my 2 year old HSE three weeks ago and, cleaning it out this morning, have noticed a small split, about 1" long on the side of the drivers seat squab, next to the door.

I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow about this but was wondering if any other members have had recent experience of getting this type of problem resolved under warranty?

For the off road ability you get and the price we pay, I can forgive a few rough edges.

To give you an instance, with a 4WD Freelander starting at £21.700 a basic (and I mean basic) BMW X3 starts at £31,400. It might have some posher plastics, but it'll be completely devoid of bells and whistles and will still get stuck way before the Freelander gets into trouble.

Likewise, the entry level Volvo XC60 at £28,815 and the Audi Q3 at £24,560. And, in the Freelander, you've have the added benefit of not looking a complete knob! Rolling Eyes Looking like a complete knob is one of the very few features that you are ever likely to get for free on a BMW Laughing

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I recently bought an approved used four year old HSE and pointed out the split as I knew it was something to look for and is a known common fault on many FL2’s. They duly had it fixed (repaired) and it was virtually impossible to see the repair but last week it was in for a mirror problem and they managed to rip it again in another place. Currently waiting to see what they’re going to do about it but accepted liability and so it will be fixed once again. Seeing as it had been in for a repair already they are looking into replacing the whole piece this time.
This issue has been covered a number of times if you do a search you will soon see it’s a common problem and depends on how conscientious your chosen dealer is. Thumbs Up 57 HSE AUTO with H.I.D's - Grey with Black leather. (H.S.E. Heightadjustable Seats Extra Sad )

Just had my 57 plate/ 48000 mile Fl2 seat repaired. Took some doing, mind you! I took it to the dealer as soon as I noticed, just before its year's extended warranty expired on its fourth birthday. First response was 'it's not covered'. Second attempt, just after warranty had run out, had the LR engineer come down from head office to say the same. Third attempt, all the while me pointing out the LR Service Instruction, resulted in the service manager putting in a bid to LR for a goodwill gesture. Hey presto, all fixed at LR expense!

So, a big thank you to TH White in Swindon for persevering with me and for getting me, the customer, the response I wanted despite what LR above had said. A good result.

Bought my '58 plate FL2 last month and noticed a split in the leather the second time I got in it.
Drove it straight over to Lancaster Land Rover in Reading and they fixed it no problems under the warranty that runs out in a couple of days Shocked

No I didn't buy it from a LR dealer, just took it there to get the seat fixed.
I did buy it from one of those big motor parks and took out an extended warranty though, so we'll see where that leads me in the future!
