I just got a late 2008 HSE, I think that I am going to have to get a new set of tyres for this winter, the car has 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 ((gsd3's)still got plenty of tread!!) these are 100% summer road tyres and I dont have much faith in them for any winter conditions. We have a Clio 182 that gets Winter tyres fitted every year that will do better than the Landie! I have been reading the various posts on here and looking around the web. Be lucky if the car does 8k miles a year, which tyre works best both on road and mild offroad - snow. Bearing in mind the winter we just had it would be embarrasing to be using the Clio and not the Landie. Clio will go anywhere with the Pirelli sottozeros!Your experience appreciated. |

I am looking at replacing the Goodyear F1's, not looking to get a second set for winter, running out of storage, the garage already has the spare alloys for the Clio, a motorbike and other assorted junk, need to leave room to fit the Landie in too. Anybody tried the Pirelli Scorpion ATR, I am not sure what Scorpions everyone here is on about, there appears to be two or three types, the more road biased being the STR?! I want a tyre that will run all year round, but still work in the snow / mud.I have seen someone else on this site in Aberdeen with Goodyear Wrangler AT SA's but they dont do an 18" fit only 17". cheers for the info tho Imorris, The Sottozeros are amazing too, we had over a ft of snow on the roads round us frequently this winter and live up a hill, the only other vehicles moving around were 4x4's, upset a lot of the neighbours who couldn't get about! as long as it was the soft fluffy stufff never got grounded, did need a new splitter and mudflaps though.
