We all know the Freelander 2 nukes it's rivals off road but what about on the road or in bad weather. A guy up the road from me owns a titanium kuga tdci and claims I have bought the wrong car. He admits his won't compete off road but says his will follow the freelander up side streets covered with thick snow despite the terrain response advantage.

They share many Ford components with the Kuga being built from the C-max chassis and the FL2 from the S-max chassis. They both have Peugeot/Citroen/Ford tdci engine with the Kuga having the 2 litre and FL2 the 2.2 litre

Ive just been on the Ford website and to spec up a Kuga to a Freelander HSE Auto. Kuga coming out at £33K against the FL2 at £37K.

It is well known that Ford's pricing policy is to heavily discount from a highly inflated list price. So you will not pay anything like £33k Chris |

Test drove both last week.Kuga smaller ,especially in the back and boot, smaller windows so not such a good view out.No limo ride in kuga, performance similar.Heavy discounts available.Drivethedeal not much over 20k for a 4x4 zetec.I thought it far too bling,Wife quite liked it. |

We considered both and had a good luck at a Titanium Kuga at the local Ford dealer. It was OK and considerably cheaper (how do you spec one up to £33K?).

Ordinary - As with all Toyota's. About as interesting as a Breeze Block! Jeep - Dreadfull styling! Probably worse than Toyota.... Don't know anything about latest Vitara's. Freelander 2 vs Ford Kuga, i looked at the kuga but it sucks at towing i had a mondeo 2ltr and that tugs better than the kuga, but at 96% to the freelaners 84% its a much better tow and safer than the mondeo so its a non start for ford freelande2r for our new caravans tug Chris Binns |

Just today arrived back from a three day trip North of the Border, it is suprising how many Freelanders you see towing now, almost every other trailer being pulled by a Freelander. Didn't see a Focus on bigger wheels pulling any. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |
