Mine does. Since it is an auto as well I have to stabilise first before putting it in park P. |

My car, a manual, does this to a small extent. I would put it down to the fact that the foor brake (the brake system that brought you to a standstill) operates on discs on all four wheels. The handbrake, from what I've been told, is a drum brake system operating on only the rear wheels. When the handbrake is applied, I suspect that there is some mechanical 'free play' or 'slack' to be taken up between the foot brake being released and the drum brake 'taking the load' - not disimilar the way an automatic will always roll very slightly when brought to a stop on the foot brake, placed in PARK and the brake released.

Mine is not brillant, Like Avtur says there is a little play upon the rear brakes biting.

Thinking about this, I've never experienced this on any other car/4x4/van that I've owned or driven. To me it feels like the handbrake is working on the disk brakes, if they were drum brakes there would be no slack to take up as the shoes lock agaist the inside of the drum when you pull the lever up.

I have had new brake shoes fitted to both rear wheels due to a handbrake fault it still moved ...took it back yesterday to have the handbrake "tightened" it is now better but still there is a bit of slack...just have to live with it now i suppose.
