Smart car Confused , but its only use will be for urban women shoppers (VB-type Yawn ) that no doubt will be "evoked" by its image. That roof line must give a back seat only usful for kids, small dogs or leggless dwarfs.

Thank goodness its called a Range Rover which gives it some fare distance from our LR Freelander image.

Time to look for a new avatar Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Quite impressed except

Really good to see it's basically the same as the concept - which is a concept that I've never seen so much journo interest in. Looks like a neat little car and happy it'll be built in Halewood. However...

- £35k for 4wd version of a very little car!
- Evoque is a daft name
- VB and George Lamb... Taking away valuable man points
- feels like they are targeting only at girls

Still can't wait to see it in the flesh

Well, poo to you lot. I love it! Smile I loved the concept when I saw it at the launch in Reading, and it looks little different now. I will be placing my order as soon as it becomes available to do so. Chris

Not me, I think I will be sticking with the FL2. That side on comparison with the FL2 highlights just how cramped the rear is on the LRX or whatever it is called and inevitably the letter box / slit rear view window. I drove a X6 a few months ago and hated it, full of technical gizmos which is nice but pig ugly and Censored to reverse. Just hope the facelift FL2 will entice me enough to order one until the FL3 arrives in 2013.

Having started this topic I am glad that in general my initial thoughts about the launch have been broadly accepted.

As for the vehicle itself nobody appears to have commented on the fact that it appears to be a 2 door only (unless I am missing something).

5 door coming later apparently,
I quite like it, as a wifes car atleast, but its too many pennies for Mrs G to use as a shopping trolley. paradoxically if Mrs G stopped shopping so much we could afford one.

Of course the launch car is fitted with all round tints so looks a bit niftier than the real road version will. At work

2 door defies logic, but the girlies can pose getting the kids out of the rear seat I suppose.

Popham has made the Evoque cheap and tacky with this latest bit of crud with Vicky Beckham. We are all going to be ashamed of buying the LR brand from now on.

Not a slick launch in my opinion, and the Beckham association has just cleared my head of any thoughts i had of getting one - ever... And why does the wheel arch have a little tab at the 12o'clock position - whats that all about? Perhaps its just an extra place to get chromed / VB diamonte accessoried.

Unfortuately car manufacturers have grasped the fact that there are lots of niches and people buy cars because they are viewed as a fashion accessory. I know...I'm studying design. This is why the X6 sells.

That's all this car is, an overpriced fashion accessory that all the 'celebs' are going to have to be seen in. In white, because they have no imagination and that's the only colour we've seen it in other than black.

It's just an expensive hatchback with a high driving position in my opinion.

List of reasons not to buy (my opinion)

Lack of interior space, I'm 6'8 and there is NO WAY I'm going to be able to sit behind the wheel in that, never mind in the back.

Boot space...what boot space?

3 door, makes it hard to take your friends somewhere, although it's not too much of a problem when you consider that there will be very very limited space in the back, if any worth talking about.

Offering as a 2wd model...so I'm assuming other aspects of the car aren't intended for off road/towing capabilities? The first winter they're on sale every ditch will be littered with them.

I honestly don't think it's a cool car. Now there's a debate... Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

The Chuckle Brothers as Engineering manufacturing Consultants? Confused

They are not tabs but lifting notches, they are to help the clamping lorries lift your illegally parked car to save scratching the nice shiny wheels.

If VB is designing the interior she better get a wriggle on if it is to be ready for the September Paris show launch.
I thought the interior had already been designed, unless she is accessorising it with celery stick holders in the dashboard? 09 FL2 HSE auto Lago Grey
