Hi All
Went away for a month and left the FL2 on the drive. Came home and went to start FL2 but it wouldn't unlock with both fobs. Called out LRA and they unlocked the car, alarm went off. he then placed one of the fobs in the ignition socket for a few seconds and was able to unlock remotely and all was well.
My question is, how long can the fob battery last without being put in the ignition socket, surely longer than a month?

That wouldn't be the fobs that caused your issue - it is the car dropping to minimal power usage to prevent total battery discharge. What the LRA guy did is exactly what's required. Let yourself in with an emergency key and dock the fob to stop the alarm. Both fobs will probably still be charged.

Following on from the above I was wondering if there is a way of unlocking the car when key fobs are ineffective with the nearside of the car parked close to a wall. Which mine has to be. In this case the emergency key blade cannot be used because the mechanical key lock for some unknown reason is on the nearside.

Hi, just for information, interesting timing, I just also returned from a month away, the car was parked about about 4 weeks, and when I returned the key fob also did not work, opened the passenger door with the manual key and put the fob in the ignition to turn the alarm off.

Seems this is common, but very annoying, I have never seen a car do something like this before.

regarding the older post and advice from the LR technician that keeping the keys together can wipe the memory, I dont believe that as I keep the spare key at a friends house in case of emergency.

Hi I'm new to this forum but have been browsing for a while. I have also had "flat" fob issue as my LR2 is kept abroad and not used weekly. Have found a solution.....Phillips do some rechargable candle lights with an induction charge base......drop for fob in there for a charge, do need to be turned over / round as they do not fully fit in there. Left mine in for the 12hr. timed charge cycle.....works a treat. Candles set is Phillips Imagio....cost £25....much cheaper than a new fob.
