England 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Auto Rimini Red

Just got back this afternoon from a tour of France, towing 1500 kg with 3 adults and 3 bikes on the top.
like to keep it at 70 to 75 on the french motorways and came back from Portsmouth this morning 235 miles in 5 hours I got 19.7mpg towing 1800 miles and 36.7mpg solo. car is an auto and i never use command shift except for engine braking on long descents. obviously I used to get more from the manual but the auto is a lot more relaxing to use .

Did you sort out the confusion about towing limits? According to the Caravan Club the speed limit for your outfit is now 90Kph (55mph) on motorways and you should have stickers on the back of your van declaring this.

Mind you other authorities are saying that the new limits for outfits over 3500Kg GTW are 110kph unless its raining - which I imagine you would get away with most of the time at 70/75mph.

I do hope the lower limit is incorrect because the extra speed helps eat up the miles when going a long way south!

Anyway, my van is also 1500kg but I can't decide whether to go auto or manual when the 2011MY is available.....
