AT Tansmission problem???

Hi guys,

I'm enjoying my Freelander very much. Very Happy Very Happy I Have a question concerning me and wondered if you guys can give me feedback on this. Confused Confused When your driving with the AT transmission Td4 in D(drive) , stop on a downhill surface with the brake , activate the handbrake and then put it in R(reverse) it feels a bit sluggish to get it into reverse and once it is in R it feels if the whole Freelander has a slight jump/movement/backward nodge. I know the Freelander's transmission is developed in such a way that there ia continous movement in D and R so that the is never a power overloading on the gearbox when accelerating from still standing. This is my first automatic car and wondered if this is normal. Please let me know if this is normal and if somebody else is experiencing it aswell...

it sounds normal -AT engages when put in gear (D or R) with slight "thump?', and there is slight delay after you shift it into D or R
