There is a damper on the back left hand side of the glove box. This has a built in clip that secures it to the glove box. Sounds like this has dropped off and that may be why the damper won't stay attached and the Glovebox falls quickly.

Once it has come off then the glowbox comes out of it lower pivot brackets with an upward tug- its quite secure so be brave.

To put the damper back on you need to stretch it to re-attached. Bit of pig to do as you need to suport the glovebox at the same time as pushing it back on the peg until the clip clicks! If you have three hands this would make it easier! Rolling with laughter There's always a way forward!

Re: glovebox removal instructions

1. Unplug a buffer from the glovebox.
2. Pull out axises from their holders.

The clip on the top of my damper has broken off (didn't see the slot to put your finger in to release it Sad ), been quoted £2.61 from LR for the complete damper but not kept in stock. So till I get one been using an suitale sized "E" clip to hold the damper top pin in.

How/where does the damper fasten on at the other end? mine was attached at the glove box end but not attached under the dash.

if you look in he picture above showing the dash with the glovebox removed, you can see the damper resting on the crossmember there is a square hole in the crossmember that the damper clips into.
