Help! I am making a pig's ear of cleaning door pillars

I have looked through posts but cannot find anything that will help.

I have a 2008 HSE. I am trying to clean and protect the matte black door pillars. My efforts using Autoglym polish and now Bumper Care is leaving it smeared and very prone to unsightly finger marks. Can anyone recommend a treatment that will both clean and protect these rather large and prominent door featutes and leave them with the satin matte type finish. Everying I do seems to make matters worse.

Many thanks.

Are you refering to the pillars in between the two doors?

I don't polish or wax them myself, just clean with shampoo and dry

I do use a spray sealant on the car in between waxing and often given them a wipe with it, the stuff I use is DoDo Juice Red Mist Tropical.

You get finger prints on it what ever you use due to the grease on the fingers Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Sorry didn't explain clearly.

The black pillars I am referring to are at the back edge of the front doors and the front edge of the rear doors. These black parts of the doors are a prominent feature. They are the external part of the door where the glass slides up and down.

I know I should post a photo. Sorry.

Anyway, is what you are saying: just shampooing is what is the norm? Seems strange since there seems a miriad of products to protect all the other parts of the bodywork. Will look out for the DoDo Juice.

I think only strong detergent will not fetch of the 'Bumper Care' grease and smears.

Can't go wrong with ArmourAll. Apply sparingly though.

As NP says, you'll always get fingerprints on them. I tend to shut the front doors with my elbow. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

i have asked the question on DW but not had a responce yet Neutral

The Red Mist Tropical, I use is good as you can give it a good wash/dry and they spray thing on everything, windows, plastics, painted surfaces, and it makes the car shine and bead water lovely
