United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Rimini Red
Freelander Towing Electrics

Just fitted a genuine 12s/12n Towing electric set - easy job if you can get your head around the cr*p diagrams in the install instructions.

Just spoken to Dealer to see if they can code it and was quoted £80 (yes eighty quid- I got her to repeat it three times and it was still the same price) to do.
'Apparently' there is lots of software that needs downloding and it take 1.5 hrs to complete. Basically I think they are taking the proverbial.

Can anyone advise of a local indie that can program for a reasonable price (Bradford / Leeds area)

I'll only pay that as a last resort - what a rip off.

10forCash are they telling it as it is - 1.5 hrs? There's always a way forward!

DrownedRat,
When I fitted my twin electrics only 6 weeks ago ( with the control unit which just all clipped in to place with the 3 fuse's etc.) I tested it and it all works OK had no problem with caravan electric's to date ,
What needs coding in ??? is it just the reversing sensors ?? which I can switch of manual.
Try it, it may all work ?? Thumbs Up

Think it's the flashing trailer warning light on the dash that won't work - to be a good law abiding citizen like we all are including me Whistle your supposed to have either a light or a beeper to show that your trailer indicators are working Thumbs Up

Just spoke to an ex-landrover tech support guy who says it may work but not all the function will work. What has to be done is a program taken off the freelander 2 and emailed off to the software support team. It then gets towar electrics program loaded to the software then emailed back and then programmed back to the vehicle. He could not say what would or would not work without programming. Hope this helps Thumbs Up

Sounds like an awful lot of effort to go through for something that should just be a tick in the box to say its connected.

Anyone else had experienc eof this??

Deos anyone know where the plug in interface socket lives on a FL2?? There's always a way forward!

Just put a detachable on mine with the genuine landrover electrics but I have no function from the electrics.
Bought all this second hand but genuine kit.
Should I have power to the elcetrics or is this what the recode is for?
