Brake actuator

Just had my FL into the local stealer for warranty work. The drivers seat going down, rear parking sensors and a possible slipping clutch?

They could not find a fault with the seat? no surprise there! and also could not find anything wrong with the clutch. The symtoms (intermittant) were revs going up briefly before car accelerating and on a few occasions the car would accelerate then lose power for a couple of seconds before accelerating again, it felt as if the clutch had been partly depressed?
I went out with the mechanic but could not get the fault to happen, he then went on to say that he had noticed the handbrake was not holding until almost vertical. He then stated that the brake actuator was possibly sticking intermittently which would cause similar symtoms to the possible clutch slipping?

I have now had a phone call from the stealer stating the repair to the actuator was classed as fair wear and tear and would cost £320 to repair!

My FL is 2 years old and just turned 30,000 miles, Any opinions on this being fair wear and tear? Very Happy Very Happy

Do you do a lot of handbrake turns?? I had no problems with my handbrake after 60,000 mile plus.

Shocked I would let them know where to get off. I can't see how they can say that it is wear and tear in 30K miles. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

I'm not exactly sure what the brake actuator does? My car is getting serviced later, (not at a Dealer though) I'll ask the mechanic to have a look at it. Very Happy Very Happy

if it is faulty it should be covered under warranty at 2 years and 30K miles.

Started saying the EPB on Disco3 is not covered aswell when they squeal, and they say thats down to a fault in design

I wonder if the dealer is confused between the two Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

EPB fault according to land Rover is down to the garage techies not adjusting it properly.
Bit ironic really as I thought Land Rover techies were trained by Land Rover Confused ______________________

Just been speaking to my mechanic who was going to repair the sticking brake actuator for me at a fraction of Stratstones price. Before he was due to carryout the work he contacted his friend who works for another LR dealer about the work and was told by him that they had seen numerous FL2's with brake problems and the they should be repaired under warranty. I will contact the other dealer and see what happens. I will update the post with the outcome. Very Happy Very Happy
