Strange Smell

Have had FL2 (10plate TD4e 2.2) now for just over 1 month. Just started getting a strange odour coming into the cab. The only way I can describe it is like an ointment smell, similar to "germoline" (other antiseptic creams are available!). I am wondering whether it's something to do with the air conditioning as I did notice it on the first day we had reasonably hot weather this year (15 deg C +)

I'm hoping it will go away after a few days as it may be just because it's been in use for the first time. Anyone else noticed a similar odour? My eyes are quite dry but that might be down to hayfever.

I did call out Land Rover Assistance having spoke to the Garage where I bought the FL2 who advised me to do so as they couldn't diagnose over the phone. The mechanic could not find any leaks on the vehicle.

Thanks

I cant remember any smell like that when I used the AC first but it maybe possible, I am thinking maybe its coming from some sort of protective wax used in the AC evaporator. As you probably know ACs can produce bad smells due to bacteria growing inside the evaporator but your car is too new for that to happen. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Isn't there something to do to kill off the bacteria?

Something like having it on MAX cold for 10mins, with the vents closed to freeze them Question Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I stuck it on MAX chilling for 15 mins on the way home today and then max heating for 10.

I shall let you know in a week's time if the odour is still hanging around by then. If you don't hear from me, I've either died from Hypothermia, Hyperthermia or whatever the Coroner says at my inquest Smile

(I know Hypothermia and Hyperthermia technically aren't the correct expressions)
