Well pleased with the MPG

Just got back from a weeks holiday, covered 910 miles, including motorways, town centers, mad roads around Snowdonia! and country lanes in Lancashire, The Fl averaged 43.8 mpg.I'm quite pleased with that.

I nearly always get 500mls per tank with manual, but usually fill it up before the 500 mile point.

Very Happy I just drive carefully, don't accelerate like Jenson Button, and use Cruise control on the Mway Mr. Green

Wales 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e GS Manual Bali Blue

On a recent long run i averaged 43mpg, it was mainly motorways, round town doing the usual stuff 35-37.

On a long run I do find that i can improve mpg by 1 or 2 by not using cruise.

this morning i slowly drove to the petrol station and reset my trip as soon as started, crept up to a handsome 19.1mpg in 3miles drive from cold

Filled up and I had done 310miles (65.34L and 21.57mpg)

In to the dealers on the 20th for them to look at it Sad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I agree (blame CG for that) Whistle

It depends on the duty of your car - my wife and I drive her car like Miss Daisy!

I'm sure that, going on tyre wear on some cars here you drive your cars a lot harder!

Pinks, have you tried using the manual mode to help change up faster? I know

yes I've found that I can achieve a bit more mpg by not using cruise control, but on long motorway journeys I still use it when I can as I find it so relaxing.

on the flat probably there is not a great deal of difference, but when you hit an incline the cruise control will use more fuel to maintain the set speed.

There must be something wrong with our car then, 2010 manual S so no cruise. Just had a week in Cornwall, max MPG on motorway = 34.5 and that was using the power of 'The Force' to will the numbers up! Did a calculation on holiday , cost £71 to fill up from just under 1/4 full and that equated to 28.25 MPG which really is hopeless. Did a 170 mile round trip in our 1.9tdi A4 on Sunday, got 53mpg all the way (knew I should have bought the quattro version of this instead of the FL2!). Have noticed that the slightest hill and the MPG is badly affected as does any form of acceleration. When I took it into the dealer, they said there was nothing wrong with it but I don't know how they tested the fuel consumption.

difficult to say if it's the car or driving style, I know I tend to be very lightfooted on the throttle.

certainly 34.5mpg on the motorway does sound a bit poor, but about town mpg can vary a great deal depending on traffic/stop/start, etc. but again 28.25mpg is also very poor.
