2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

Not sure about other models but the NV-83 is 145 x 87mm and is pretty snug, I'd search the Sony website for exact sizes but I believe that later models just used the same hardware? Thumbs Up

Sweden 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Sumatra Black

I have mounted in my car Sony Nav-U92. Advantage is that it is possible to use GPS holder. I placed original SONY GPS holder into cubby hole - adjusted little bit, that my navi unit is sticking out about 7-10mm from cubby hole, but I have access to POWER button, and release button.
Next thing what I have done, I routed power cable through one hole in cubby (no drill is needed) via glove box to middle console (cigarette lighter). I bought simple voltage convertor from 12V to 5V (3A) and install it under inside middle console close to cigarete lighter - there is enough space to make that instalation (simple metal bracket is enough). I used original Land Rover splitter to take power from cigarette lighter socket (same splitter as included in Entertainment Kit). All necessary informations how to remove middle console You can find in manual for Entertainment kit.
Everything working perfect. No visible power wiring. It is possible to Switch ON/OFF unit with POWER switch, and release from holder and take it home.

I will place photos soon.

My Garmin Nuvi is fitted in dash using adhesive pad supplied and standard sucker mount. Have it slightly proud of dash and angled towards driver, able to switch on/off and opperate release button. Also had bluetooth capability. My new 2010 GS and prefer Garmin Bluetooth to system now fitted to car as standard.
Pros and cons, fitted bluetooth saves clipping in sat nav when not needed but prefer sat nav on journeys as phonebook nearer eye level and easier to read.

Had loan HSE for few days and flush mounted unit fitted squarely in dash is not as easy to read. Must agree though that it is am impressive unit. Should be £1200 against £85. All FL2's (3) Gone

Hi Everyone!

I've taken the plunge and gone for a SONY 93T !

I've fitted it in a slightly different way. (will upload pics later)

2 questions though:

Can i have a QWERTY keyboard on the screen?

How do i get the Land rover logos on? I've tried the way Jum said but cant find any images using the explorer on Active Sync?

Thanks guys! Smile

Sorry can't help with your Q's as I have not fitted on yet - but it's the first mod I want to do to my new freelander. Any chance of some pic for your install?

Looks good Thumbs Up

Does anyone know if any other satnav will switch on or off via the ignition? I know the tomtom doesn't - it ignores whether it is plugged in or unplugged from the cigarette lighter.

Ultimately I would like a more modern satnav - and if it plays MP3s with an aux out then perfect! But it needs to fit the gap nicely and most importantly power up/shutdown like the sony.

Most Garmin units will switch off when external power is removed. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

Got a Sony U92T on ebay and have managed to load the splash screens (using windows XP).

Use active sync to connect and then explore the device. Browse to the folder with the images you want to replace - on mine the main splash screen shown at start up and shut down is in the windows folder but was called Sony_MID.bmp rather than Sony.bmp.

Open another windows explorer window and browse to the folder with the replacement files on your computer. I renamed the Sony.bmp file to Sony_MID.bmp to match the file i wanted to replace. Then drag the file from one explorer window to the other explorer window that is open in activesync.

It asks if you want to replace the file - yes - and it works.

Thanks you to the original poster that provided the files.

Not worked out how to use the car images provided in the download pack yet!
