If you read the manual you will find the details of the recommended coolant and the recommended dilution rate. My Freelander experienced coolant loss, and although the dealer claimed that "I was driving it too fast", which was simply not true, the second pressure test revealed a poorly fitting hose clip. It is OK now. |

I have this problem too. I talked to the dealer here in Iceland today, and they said it was a common fault and they would fix it. Something about the sensor leaking and being pushed down. I did not quite get what he was saying (in Icelandic...not my native tongue). But he said they would fix it under warranty. |

I topped mine up a few months back with a tiny amount of distilled water to get it above the lower line and it's been fine ever since! My sloped driveway meant it displayed a warning but was Ok on the flat.... |

Checked with the dealer yesterday and he advived me to top it up with filtered or distilled water and not to add any other coolant as there may be a chemical reaction. Landrover use their own coolant that do not mix with other coolants on the market. I only added about 350 ml and it was on the max mark. |

I had the same problem in that the coolant level had dropped. Whne topped up again with just water, it dropped again slightly after about 3 weeks.

The EGR valve has a coolant pipe running through it not far fro the coolant filler, this is so it can monitor the coolant temperature and presumably take this into account for when the ECU adjusts fuel/air mixture and so on. |
