My first FL2 and it's broken! Good news though!

Hi guys,

This is my first post but I've been on this forum for some time whilst deciding whether to get in for a Freelander 22. In late January I caught myself a 3 month old ex-LR company Freelander 2 SE Auto with about 2K miles on the clock for about a smudge over £23K. I thought it was a great move... until my front wipers completely stopped working while I was doing 70mph on the M40 - in heavy rain... Big Cry It was a hairy moment for me and I called out LR Assist and they couldn't fix it so we got it down to a LR workshop to get it done.

Meanwhile I've received my replacement vehicle - a VW Tiguan R-Design something... Comparison between the two cars is like comparing the difference between night and day! The FL2, though broken, is a much much better car in terms of build quality (I don't believe I said that! Whistle ) and comfort. Just done 300+ miles today on the Tiguan and I want my Freelander back! Big Cry

Sorry for the long post!

Cheers,
Nick

Yes. There's always some good to be found out the bad and in your case it was a chance to spend some time with the competition and rubber stamp your your FL2 choice.

My wipers packed up on Boxing Day too!
Same story, LR Assist unable to fix it, into the dealers etc until the New Year, but the hire car company did produce a Range Rover Sport HSE instead!

Nice thought, but not that nice a car for £48K or whatever they are.

What was done to fix the wipers?

Mine occaisionally stop working for no reason, then start again, sometimes 10 seconds later, once it was 24 hours later! Always work on the garage forecourt though! 1998 Feelander XDI Hardback - Gone

The workshop called me just now to inform me that the wiper motor had burnt out and that it was going to be replaced today. Apparently the LRAssist guy told me this shouldn't happen at all and it was quite an odd thing to happen for a young vehicle. If the wiper stutters a lot, it might be a mechanical problem. LRAssist said that it might have been a control module problem also so you might want to go and get it checked up! Smile

Mine was a faulty motor too. It was replaced and seems to have fixed the problem.

Symptoms before were a brief pause or glitch for a second or so during the wipe cycle mid way through the sweep. This happened for a couple of weeks till Xmas then they stopped completely. So if yours are doing this, beware!!
