Cyprus 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Tow Bar information

Hi, i am thinking to install a tow bar on my Fl2 GS so i am currently searching my options.
I have decided to go with a removable tow bar mainly due to cosmetic reasons but i got confused with the options that exist.
i know that there is a quick release swan neck tow bar but is there any other type of quick release tow bar?
also looking for the electric kit i see that there are two of those. The one is the so called 12N (has a white cap) and the other one the 13 Pin Euro type - plug-in. What is the difference between this two? do i need to install both or only one of them? The reason that i want to install the tow bar is because i want to tow my boat for the summer. Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!

You'll find lots of towbar info on the forum with a search - it's all been covered before.
Witter is one of the better manufacturers and is usually designed so bumper cutting is not needed. Some makes required cuts which I wasn't happy about. Electrics socket depends on what you're attaching. Trailer/caravan etc. can have different ones. I have no caravan experience - again, this is covered on the forum though. I guess one of each connector type will cover you for most situations if you're not sure what you'll be using it for.
Detachable will cost more of course.

in the UK the 13pin adapter is the current prefference for all new caravans, and quite possible new trailers etc (not sure if its a law change)

One socket does all basically, if your boat trailer has sinle electrics you may need to swap the connector over to be a 13pin.

The 12n white cap is for powering up things like fridges and such like on a caravan, and used if the caravan battery dies and you need to use the battery on the car Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks guys for the prompt reply. Now it makes some sense!!! So i don't need the 12n white cap, i only need the 13pin.
Detachable tow bar is more expensive but at least i will be able to remove it when not used and keep the car beautiful as i believe the tow bar makes it look agly Razz

Thanks for the information for Witter but this is in UK and i am located in Cyprus. I will need someone to install this as i am not so technical therefore most probably i will go with the genuine parts of Landrover but buy them from UK that i can find better prices and ask the dealer here in Cyprus to install them on the car and keep my guaranty.

Could you please provide me with contact information with the forum's sponsors so as to ask them for prices and if they can ship to Cyprus? Freelander 2 GS TD4, Stornoway Grey, Manual, called BEAST!!!

On the towbar, is a UK Spec towbar going to be type approved for Cyprus, or do you ghave your own approval requirements like the Ozzie members have Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
