For a long while now new cars are have their chassis or subframe already drilled to suit a towbar so to answer your question it's a 'start from scratch job' but the manufacturers make it very easy for an aftermarket bar to be fitted. So really it's your choice on where you want to spend your money either at a LR dealer fit (They will get someone in to do it though) or go to towbars 'R' us. They will be all I think they call 'type approved' so the actual bar is the easy bit.

Looks good Marky go for it - I favour the removable ones which are obviously dearer as I don't like the idea of an extension of my chassis sticking out of the back of the car (What would happen in a rear end shunt ?) plus my knee doesn't like the fixed units either

Yeah same firm did my snap off on the AUDI for £400, Landrover want around £500+ for a non snap off, tried my best to get one thrown in but all they'd do was 2k discount, landrover experience, brolly, mats, boot mat and mud flaps so suppose they all add up to somewhere near a towbar, have to get it sorted as using the 'trailer' in April 2010 FL2 XS Auto in Santorini Black with HSE alloys |
