Could be worse,

Lent mine to my eldest yesterday while I was fixing his Astra, when I jumped in it today for work the average MPG was showing 18mpg, from a dieisel auto - he had done over 100 miles "nipping to the shops".

Doesn't look as if he was driving dads pride and joy "with extreme care" Confused Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

I'd say the 15-or-so MPG you're missing have been diverted to wearing out your brake pads.
