Before anyone gets upset with another power chip post, i have only found a few words about this brand - Spider

Has anyone gone with this chip?

The huge power gain makes me slightly nervous... all i want to know has anyone used or can recommend this product. Was it easy to install? and no problems to report?

any "chip" or "tuning box" is a waste of money in my opinion. all these types of unit do is intercept the ecu signal and change it and can lead to running issues.
Your better off spending your money on a proper remap. This means the ECU's fuel mapping is changed and the company doing the mapping will check for any faults before and after the download.

Saying that my experience comes from TD5 engines but I would assume it applies to any ECU controlled engine.

Have to agree with the last post about a remap and especially about the TD5 what a differnce it made.

But I don't think I would do my Freely 2 though.

We have had our old Skoda 110TDi remapped with very good results, it was well out of warranty, so no issues.
The last Freelander1 had a tuning box fitted, that was removed before each dealer visit, this also was very sucessful, towing a van without it was an unpleasant experience.

I'll wait for the abuse on that last comment.

When the engine started to play silly devils I was glad I could remove the tuning box to eliminate it from the fault - fuel pump. Also when we visited Morrocco, we could turn the settings down on the tuning box to give the cooling system an easier time.

What I will say is you tend to get what you pay for, a £200 tuning box will have had very little development time spent on it, and it's the development you are paying for, the material cost are tiny in comparison.

Word of warning, if a box interfaces directly with the ECU, when you remove it for the dealer visit, you may loose the diagnostic memory - makes fault finding fun Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

It sounds to me like a massive increase. 160-200 bhp is a big jump. 400Nm to 540Nm, ( in gear acceleration would be mindbending. Torque is linear and a 35% increase in torque would result in basically a 35% decrease in acceleration times.) Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

also just looking at their other applications, they claim to be able to remap a 200/300 tdi defender which doesnt even have an ecu!

Cheers for the replies... i might stick to a steinbaurer then. Spider hasnt got back to me, so on the side of caution i would be still happy witha 80nm jump of torque
