Not quite... I did some digging - mirror and lens geometry needed to properly focus halogen bulb light is different from xenon. For that reason, headlight units have a letter designation: B (fog), RL (day), C (driving), R (main beam). If you see H before the above letters, then the unit is allowed for halogen bulbs only. Letter D allows HID. Letter E followed by numbers indicates in which country performed the test, as well as the certification number. I'd assume the police simply checks if D is present on the unit equipped with xenons. H + HID is never a certified combination. Even though it may look well and not dazzle others. |

Sorry I meant a grey area in the fact that although illegal, they will still pass an MOT if the light pattern is within acceptable limits. |

but an MOT pass does not mean the vehicle is legal. The police?VOSA can still fine you for having them fitted regardless of whether you have an MOT or not. You may also face other implications if you are involved in an accident regarding visibility.

I accept the arguement about HID v. H7 extreme, yes there are rules and regs surrounding Xenons.

The D3 has got both bi-xenon and halogen headlights, a halogen bulb is used for the "in-fill" |

H7's used for high beam on a Xenon Disco, at least on the non adaptive ones and I don't see why they would be any different on the adaptive. Next time you pass one, take a look. In ignorance, I did think every bulb would Xenon, not just the dip, but then I wasn't clued up on it. |

Hi Dave, maybe I am getting confused with my Xenons, I am not sure. It's genuine LR, non adaptive. Anyway, it's bright. I presume your side lights are yellow halogens? |

Carnoch, they look great! And after speaking to a few peeps I saw them on a friends car too.... But i'm still leaning towards HID |
