The day I am forced to drive an electric car is the day they prize the petrol pump out of my cold dead hand.

Or am old and need to go to the shops to buy more werthers originals on my electric shopping basket.

I don't confess to being an expert in alternative fuels or anything, but where do these people think electricity comes from? The Power Pixies?

I have to admit my dads Lexsus RX400h is a decent car.

As silient as a £40k milk float, but with leather seats.

And what's the equivalent of taking some spare fuel in a jerry can with you when you drive into the wilderness in case you run out of fuel? A very, very long extension lead? A solar panel and a good, long book to read whilst you wait?

It's also not too environmentally friendly when you go wading and accidentally electrocute every fish within a 10 meter radius...

But that would make fishing a lot more fun, no sitting around for hours ,just drive in and then drive around with your net scooping up the fish. Then off to the pub for a Pimms

In one of the publicity mags that LR were handing out prior to release of the FL2 there was a claim that a diesel/electric hybrid would be on the drawing board for 2009/10. Hybrids are only every going to be a stop gap, until we have a real alternative to our current hydrocarbon fuels, but a diesel hybrid should be much more efficient than a petrol hybrid.
